I have an old country song, by a not very country 70’s band called Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen, going through my head. The song sings wistfully about yearning for White Freightliners. I think the trucks should be put on display in a grand hall.

Haboob, Las Vegas
“Haboob” is the word used in Arizona for a dust storm. It makes some people angry, I guess because it comes from Arabic. I can’t read the Arabic in this image. I hope no one is offended. I just like the shapes of the letters, and the humor of the juxtaposition of the elements in the composition. Sometimes, things just happen.

Laura and Eric at Circus Circus, Las Vegas
There’s something creepy and wonderful about Las Vegas. It’s cheesy, seedy, fake, and fascinating. It’s a sort of year ’round Carnival of total indulgence., complete with third rate acts and pot on the streets. I’d like to go back and spend a month or so photographing all of it.
Selfie on a Rainy Night, Las Vegas
I was determined to get photos, even though the rain wouldn’t stop, and I had to hike along the Strip nursing a broken hip. But the results were worth it.

French artist JR has just installed his first work in Mexico, on the Mexican side of the U.S.-Mexico border in Tecate. The nearly 70-ft tall image is of a 1-year old name Kikito, who lives in Tecate. The installation comes in the same week Trump orders to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, the program protecting young undocumented immigrants from deportation.
The artwork will be visible from the U.S. side of the Tecate border for a month. Have a look at more images and video of its construction below.
